Christine Bleakley calls footballer fiancé Frank Lampard's daughters her 'little mates'

Girlie chats: Christine Bleakley is stepmum to Frank Lampard's daughters
TV presenter Christine Bleakley  has opened up abut her four-year engagement to footballer Frank Lampard and admits they still haven’t set a date.
The 36-year-old has also confessed that “no one ever grows up thinking they want to be a step-mum”, referring to Frank’s daughters Luna, nine and Isla, seven, from his relationship with Spanish model Elen Rivas.
Speaking about her step-mum role, Christine said: “It’s got a bad reputation thanks to Disney.
“I was talking about this the other night with my friends, and we were saying no one grows up thinking ‘I want to be a stepmum.'
“It’s a role you find yourself in and I’m very aware of trying to do it as brilliantly as I can.”
But she says her and Frank waited a year into their relationship before she even met his daughters and describes them now as her “little mates.”
“We have girlie chats. I’m not their mum, nor do I want to be.”

And she says despite the fact she and Frank are still very happy together they still haven t’managed to set wedding date, four years after he presented her with a reported £120,000 engagement ring.

In an interview in Weekend magazine she said: “When I tell the truth it sounds like I’m trying to hide something.
“Honestly, everything is up in the air. We know what we want, a small family affair. We’re not stressed about it at all. I’ve had the most enjoyable engagement.”
Christine says it is impossible to set a date this year now as Frank, who plays for Manchester City, may still be going to play in New York.
The wedding delay means Christine, whose new TV show Wild Ireland is on Monday night, will also have to put her own baby plans on hold.
She admits she does want children of her own with Frank but only after they are married.
“I'm not a planner,” she says “which is just as well given Frank’s situation.”
* Christine is presenting the documentary series Wild Ireland which starts on ITV1 on April 13
