Is Khloe Kardashian going too far with vitamin pills? Diet expert expresses concern

A diet expert has expressed concern for Khloe Kardashian after she shared a picture showing dozens of vitamin pills.
The reality star posted the snap ahead of her trip to Armenia and called it a "Vitamin party!"
The picture showed red, white and grey-coloured pills in neatly-labelled bags with different days of the week and the instructions on whether to take them in the day or in the evening.
Helen Bond, consultant dietitian to Seven Seas, has warned the 30-year-old that "taking too much of some vitamins can be dangerous."

Next to the picture, Khloe revealed: "OCD hits hard when I travel!"

She continued: "Note to the ones who ALWAYS have something to say.... I save the Ziploc bags. And no I don't have a pillbox because for all the pills I take, the pill box is large and bulky.
"This is a space saver for ME and if you save the bags who cares what container I put MY vitamins in.
"Damn y'all are the most negative people at times. Shout out to my loves who are here to spread love! It's just a picture you guys.

"Maybe I have a chill pill in one of these ziplocs for you negative Nancy's. Not sure if you knew this but the days of the week are the same every single week so you're able to reuse the Ziploc bags. Mind blown!!!!! Lol [sic]"
Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Khloe is a regular in the gym and often posts pictures showing her gruelling work-out regimes.
Speaking to Mirror Celeb, Helen Bond said: "Popping this amount of vitamin pills is no substitute for eating a healthy diet, as there is far more in food than just vitamins, including fibre and other plant chemicals.
"In theory you should be able to get all of the nutrition your body needs from eating a varied, well-balanced diet and the easiest way to achieve this is to choose most of your food from the four main food groups.

"However, whilst you are better off getting your vitamins from your plate, rather than a pill - with all the pressures of day-to-day life and being on the go travelling, this isn't always an easy thing to do.

"Although not a substitute, food supplements like Seven Seas Perfect7 Woman can help to bridge the gap between any dietary inadequacies and to help achieve the recommended levels of nutrients shown to be beneficial to health."
While it is unclear what type of vitamins were included in the bags, the dietitian said too much of some types could be "dangerous".
She said: "What concerns me about Khloe Kardashian’s supplement haul is that taking too much of some vitamins can be dangerous.
"Certain vitamins dissolve in water 'water soluble', and any that your body doesn’t need will simply leave your body when you pass urine - you cannot store 'water soluble' vitamins.

"However, your body can store the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E & K and you can become unwell if too much is taken.

"Plus, some supplements may interact with some medication and some are unsafe if you suffer from certain medical conditions.
"My advice if you are going to take food supplements is that you should always check with your doctor beforehand.
"You can make sure you don’t take too much of any vitamin by only ever taking the recommended dose on the label. If you take more than one supplement, make sure that you are not doubling up on any nutrients!"
